Reach

The REACH Regulation

Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council approved on 18 December 2006, in force from 1 June 2007, called the "REACH" (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals") regulation, requires that all substances manufactured or imported into the EEC in quantities greater than one ton per year, must be registered.

The purpose of this regulation is to create a new inventory of chemical substances to raise the level of awareness concerning the hazards and risks deriving from chemical products and guarantee a better level of protection for both human health and the environment.

The registration process ends on 1 June 2018, approximately 11 years after the regulation came into force. In these years Zep Italia has complied with the regulation by:
  • sending information down the supply chain
  • rethinking the formulas of extra EU products in Europe
  • checking the completeness of safety data sheets
  • updating safety data sheets
  • updating product labels.

ZEP is an active supporter of the efforts made by the European industry to eliminate, whenever possible, the use of undesired or hazardous substances from chemical formulas.
